DESCRIPTION:
APW - Waltham, Riverside Maximus, 23J, 16S, gold-filled original HC with beautiful engine turning and engraving detail of fuchsia-like flowers, front shield with initials, cuvette with '04 presentation, white enamel DS dial with distinctive script "Waltham" signature characteristic to this mvt grade, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement, diamond endstones on balance and escape wheel, jeweled barrel, ornate nickel damascene, s#14072071. A very attractive example throughout.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, winding mechanism occasionally disengaging, setting mechanism nearly always slipping out of engagement with only occasional brief instances of engagement, overhaul needed for normalized winding and setting functions, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces with few small micro-fine scratches, winding wheels with few small to tiny spots of oxide, regulator assembly with few specks of oxide; nearly flawless dial with short perimeter scratch outside minute chapter near 12:30; excellent hands, spot of oxide to minute near tip; case shows hardly any wear, short scratch to upper-left front near shoulder, scratch to band at 9, minor marring to cuvette lip from past slipped openings, mild small dent to band near 11, scattered pinpoint nicks along band, excellent engine turning and engraving detail, cuvette surface is through virtually entirely to brass presumably from a past polishing; tight bow, crown shows very little wear; good glass crystal.
